Dear Benitz Family,

BENITZ 2020 REUNION is coming sooner than you think!

After La California, Fort Ross (twice) and Bariloche, we will now be gathering with all of our relatives in beautiful La Cumbre, in the Punilla valley, Córdoba province, home to El Rincón, an important landmark in the family's history.  For those of you who haven't been to the Córdoba hills, we can assure you that it is a beautiful place and there is a lot to see and do there.

The reunion dates coincide with the "carnaval" long week-end in Argentina, so we suggest you book lodging well in advance.  We know that at least one family has already booked a house there. For those interested in hotel accomodations, we can suggest some:

Preliminary Itinerary

Day 0: Saturday February 22: Arrival day. Optional informal gathering(s) to be defined closer to the date.

Day 1: Sunday February 23: The Big Day at El Rincón. We are working with the Sundt family who own the establishment and have kindly allowed us to celebrate in this iconic place for our family. Asado at El Rincón at midday, bring your bathing suits for the pool and neighbouring creek, and a tennis racket if you are game.

Day 2: Monday February 24: Activities in La Cumbre, including horseback riding, golf, trekking in the hills and swimming in one of the many nearby rivers and creeks

Day 3: Tuesday February 25: Activities in the area, followed by the traditional “Last Night” family Dinner & Dance at La Cumbre Golf Club, where David Horner has kindly obtained permission to use the club house facilities.

Day 4: Wednesday February 26: The sad goodbyes as everyone departs for other parts of Argentina and beyond.

Alternative Activities

There is much to see and do in this part of Argentina.  In addition to the activities mentioned above, there are handicraft workshops, rock concerts at the aeroclub, wine tasting in nearby Villa Giardino, microbreweries, mountain biking and even a motorcycle museum.

For those inclined toward extreme sports, the area is well-known for hang gliding, paragliding and parachuting.

How to get there

- Fly to Buenos Aires or Córdoba city (there are some direct flights from the US to Córdoba city).
- There are car rental agencies at Córdoba airport (e.g. Hertz).
- From Buenos Aires by car: 8.5 hours
- From Córdoba city by car: 1 hr 20 m
- Closer to the date we will be organizing some shuttles from Córdoba airport to La Cumbre, stay tuned.
