Estancia “La California”
ca. 1900

These photos were taken during the late 1890s and early 1900s.  It was a transition period.  John E. Benitz managed “La California” for the family until June 1899, when William O. Benitz took possession.  Willie & Clara moved in to the main house in late June, 1899.  Pianos were replaced in the upstairs bedroom suite on June 29, and Johnie and Marjorie’s possessions were sent to the Larguia train station on July 1 for shipment to their new home at “Los Algarrobos”.  They had begun moving there, into temporary housing, in 1897.

Family photos, taken at the Cali during the same period, are located on the pages of Johnie (JEBz, 1890-1910) and Willie (WOBz, 1900-1910).
