Uncle Alfred’s Photos taken during
hunts in the Yukon (1908) & Kenya (1910)

This album contains photos taken by Alfred during his hunts in the Yukon (Canada, 1908) and Kenya (British East Africa, 1910).  He was accompanied by John Todd on both hunts.  A few photos are duplicated in Auntie Olga’s Album (#1).  For details about the hunts (plus photos and images of ships sailed, hotels, maps, etc.), please see Alfred’s diaries: Yukon, 1908, and Kenya, 1910.

The album contains three sets of photos: the hunt in Kenya, 1910, followed by the hunt in the Yukon (Canada), 1908, and two photos taken in Argentina, ca.1915 - 1925.  We kept the photos taken in Kenya in sequence.  The photos taken in the Yukon (1908) and Argentina appear to have been added several years later – we created our own sequence for these.  We omitted repeats and almost all photos of animals killed (see Alfred’s game register).  We include comments written on the backs of a few photos (in yellow within “double quotes”).

We restored the photos by removing the more annoying blemishes, and resetting the color as seems appropriate, to either black and white, or brown and white.

The sections are:

• Safari - British Est Africa (today: Kenya) – October-December. 1910
• Hunt - Yukon, Canada – July-October, 1908
• Argentina, ca.1915-1925 (2 photos)
