Jo was a driver for the American Ambulance, Great Britain (AAGB) – funded by private donations from Americans living in Britain, but staffed entirely by British.  They had approx. 300 vehicles, 400 staff, in 17 stations spread about Great Britain.  Their vehicles were painted light grey with a horizontal red stripe just below windows.  For much more, please click: Wikipedia.
